The average scrap car value in Ireland has rocketed! We’ve seen scrap car prices hit a record high in November, great news if you’re wanting to get some cash before Christmas and have an old car to sell.
The whopping 44% increase compared to the average prices in October equates to a €96 boost! As well as increasing month on month, prices are also up by108% compared to last year.
With more Covid related uncertainties ahead as we move into the festive period, these prices may not hold at these levels for long, so it would be worthwhile cashing in before Christmas.
The value of a scrap car is influenced by many factors, such as the global demand for scrap metals, plus the make, model, age, weight, condition, and even location of your car.
About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Ireland. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
At CarTakeBack branches across Ireland in November, the most frequently scrapped car was, for the 17th consecutive month, the Ford Focus! The average scrap price for a Ford Focus increased by 33% in November, with the average value of a Ford Focus being €275 compared to €183 in October.
With the top spot being firmly held by the Ford Focus, the VW Golf increased from 3rd to 2nd. The remaining spots on the table are all change, the Astra, Mondeo and Corolla are replaced by the Micra, Yaris and Almera.
